ParticipACTION

ParticipACTION

Project Description

The project “Building Inclusive Civic Engagement and Solidarity Among Diverse Young People in Europe” [ParticipACTION] aims to increase young people’s involvement in decision-making by fostering transnational partnerships that engage young citizens in various events such as research initiatives, roundtables, transnational workshops, conferences, training sessions, advocacy activities, and debates. These events will directly connect young people to local, national, and EU policymakers. The project is designed to address two CERV CIV call priorities: promoting democratic participation, and engaging citizens in solidarity actions.

ParticipACTION seeks to collaborate with young people (aged 16 to 23) from diverse backgrounds, particularly Third Country Nationals (TCN) with a focus on young migrants especially women and girls, living in Italy, France, Lithuania, and Cyprus.

By bringing together these diverse groups of young people, the project aims to promote mutual understanding on shared experiences and barriers to democratic participation, ultimately enhancing solidarity. The project will also target relevant stakeholders, including CSOs, community networks, women-led and grassroots, migrant-led organizations, activists, education professionals, local authority representatives, cultural and research institutions, and others, encouraging their participation in different events alongside young people. Policymakers will be engaged through targeted advocacy efforts and the publication of policy papers. They will also be invited to participate in national roundtables and a final conference led by young people in Brussels.

This project’s overarching goal is to equip future and young voters with the knowledge and skills necessary to actively engage in EU democratic processes. Employing a bottom-up approach, ParticipACTION aims to facilitate a better understanding among policymakers of the lived realities and needs of young people from diverse backgrounds, while highlighting the importance of considering intersecting factors in the decision-making process.
